World renknowned cake specialist Ron Ben-Israel at his Manhattan bakery with Chabad on Washington Square Rabbis Bankhalter and Cohn in Purim costume.

The cake’s edges are cut down to create a rounded look. The “hamantash” was actually made from 8 layers of cake, each sprinkled with “Sabra” liqueur in the “Ad’lo’yada” spirit. With 7 layers of Blackberry cream fillings, the total height was 15".

The cake was so large, we gave up on our traditional spatulas, and smoothed the chocolate frosting with gloved hands.

Long strips of sweet frosting dough are rolled and applied to the cake.
Our crew patiently prepared hundreds of chocolate balls for the “poppy seed filling.”
Coloring the sugar icing with cocoa powder simulates the look of a baked dough.
The finished cake that fed 400 guests at Chabad on Washington Square’s Purim party. Even the “doily” on the tray was made of icing.

"Next Hanukkah we plan to bake the world’s largest dreidle."
